Coalesce emerged out of the Midwest in the mid-90s with a confrontational anduncompromising sound. Although they were adopted into the hardcore scene, their blend ofdiscordance and noise set them apart from the very beginning. The strength of their backcatalog highlights that their widespread influence is entirely justified and that their singularapproach to experimentation within heavy music has stood the test of time.Arguably Coalesce were ahead of their time when they began, and they have frequently beenout of step with the scenes that swirled around them in the years since.
